Batting Cage Safety Rules

  • Only current coaches and team volunteers, whose names are on the approved volunteer list, are allowed in the batting cage area
  • Only current, registered BRSLL players are allowed in the batting cage
  • A coach or team volunteer must accompany players in the batting cage area at all times. There shall be no unattended players allowed in batting cage except during a game in which a player is warming up to enter the game in session
  • Only coaches or team volunteers who have gone through training are allowed to operate the pitching machine
  • Only one batter and one machine operator are allowed in the cage lane, when the machine is in operation. All other players must wait outside of the lane or the fenced batting cage area away from the netting
  • No batting activity may take place outside the cage. All activity needs to take place inside the cage, inside the protective nets. No swinging bats outside of cage
  • All players must wear batting helmets in the batting cage • All machine operators must use the L- Screen for protection while operating the pitching machine
  • It is recommended that the machine operator also wear a helmet to protect against balls that ricochet off the roof or side of the cage.
  • Batting cages are designated for scheduled team practice or pre-game team warm-up only and are only to be used at times as designated on the Majors schedule
  • Cage may only be used during a game as a bullpen to warm up pitchers 
  • When the machine is in use, the batting cage door/gate must be closed.
  • Do not hang or climb on any of the netting or fencing.
  • When the team is finished using the batting cages, the coach or team volunteer must return pitching machine to shed and chain and lock to the wall
  • LOCK THE GATE when your game or practice has ended Do not assume another team will use the cage after you
  • If an incident or accident happens, a BRSLL Safety Officer must be notified immediately
  • Misuse of any kind will be cause for denying anyone future use of the batting cage
